About the programme
Microbiology is an English-taught Master of Science (M.Sc.) run by Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE) in Dijon, France. It takes 4 semesters (120 ECTS), starts in the winter semester, and selection and applications run through UBE. You earn a double degree from both universities, and as part of the FORTHEM European university alliance you study with people from many countries. You learn how microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi are built, how they work at the molecular level and how their metabolism runs, how they interact with the environment, people, animals and plants, and how they are used in biotechnology, pharmacy and medicine. The focus areas are molecular microbiology, microbial physiology and biotechnology. It suits you if you enjoy lab work and want to study and work internationally. Requirements include a Bachelor's in biology or a similar field and English at B2.
