About the programme

Design: Products and Interactions at HTW Dresden is a three-semester Master of Arts worth 90 ECTS, taught in German, full time and starting in the summer semester. It focuses on designing hybrid interactive products in which material and media aspects are thought through and developed together from the very start. Technical and craft skills with current design tools matter as much as planning skills, aesthetic sensitivity and abstract imagination. The first semester covers applied knowledge of design, artistic strategies and the basics of starting a business. The second brings a cooperation project, deeper design methods and insight into design in research. The third is for your Master's thesis. The programme also trains cultural and aesthetic sensitivity, concept skills and critical reflection. It suits design students who want to deepen their specialisation and follow their own design research interests, for example in product, interaction or UI/UX design.
