About the programme

Materials Science and Engineering is an international MSc at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) with a fully English curriculum, and you can choose German or English for each exam. It takes 4 semesters and 120 ECTS, is full-time, and starts in October; a dual study variant is possible. The programme is designed for Bachelor's graduates in engineering, physics, chemistry or materials science, and most students did not study materials science before. The first year introduces the foundations through a core programme built for this course, and in the second year you focus on hands-on research on a topic you choose, with a large project in a research team and your Master's thesis. Specialisation options include structural materials, modelling, and nano and hybrid materials. Graduates work in fields from basic research to production, including energy storage and lightweight construction.
