About the programme
Digital Transformation in the Information and Media Sector is a German-taught Master of Arts (M.A.) at HAW Hamburg on the Art and Media Campus at Finkenau. It takes 4 full-time semesters and starts in the winter semester only. It prepares you for digital leadership: planning, managing and evaluating digital transformation projects in libraries, cultural and research institutions, broadcasters, publishers and communications agencies. The curriculum uses inquiry-based learning. The first semester covers managing transformation processes, with algorithms and society, statistics and research, plus a management project. The second analyses the social, cultural, legal and ethical framework of media and information policy, with an analytical project. The third covers digital media production, data mining and visualisation, and communication strategy, with a design project. The fourth is your Master's thesis. Requirements include a Bachelor's in media, information, communication or library science, English at B2 and, as an international applicant, German at C1.
