About the programme
Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health is a research-focused Master's at Goethe University Frankfurt, taught in English. It covers biodiversity, ecology, ecotoxicology and the evolution of animals, plants and fungi in a time of global change, with training in practical field and lab skills. Topics include genetic diversity, nature conservation, species interactions, multiple stressors and ecosystems. Ecosystem health looks at how stressors such as climate change, pathogens and chemical pollution affect organisms and ecosystems, and the programme links to the university's Sustainability and Biodiversity profile area. You can focus on one area, for example evolutionary biology or organismal diversity, and that focus is shown on your certificate. The programme lasts four semesters and starts in winter. It aims to build an understanding of why biodiversity and ecosystem dynamics matter for the services ecosystems provide to people.
