About the programme

The master's in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (M.Sc.) at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences runs over four semesters and prepares you for specialist and management roles in the biopharmaceutical industry. It is aimed at graduates in pharmaceutics, biochemistry, biology or related subjects. The programme covers the whole value chain, from molecular structures and properties to good manufacturing practice (GMP) and regulatory affairs. Key areas are (bio)molecular sciences, bioprocess engineering and industrial processes, along with data science, project management, plant engineering, and upstream processing, bioseparation and downstream processing. You learn to design, visualise and simulate pharmaceutical processes. Laboratory classes and workshops build practical skills, and you complete three laboratory internships. Careers include research and development, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, bioanalysis, quality control and regulatory affairs.

Prerequisites

You must have completed a bachelor’s degree with at least 180 credit points in a chemistry- or biology-related field of study, such as pharmacy, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or biotechnology.

You should have previous knowledge in the fields of organic chemistry and biochemistry, e.g., documented by successfully completed modules.

The study program is taught in English, therefore you’ll also need English language skills at Level B2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Once you’ve submitted your application via the online form, we’ll let you know which documents we require to enroll you.

If you fulfil the admission requirements, your personal study advisor will invite you to an admission interview. The admission interview is not a knowledge test. We would like to find out more about your personality, your reasons for choosing Hochschule Fresenius and your motivation to study. The interview is scheduled for 15 minutes.

After successful completion of the admission interview, we will send you the study contract with all details on the next steps.
