About the programme

EMerald is a master's programme in georesources engineering with a focus on geometallurgy and the circular economy, listed by EIT RawMaterials. It was created in response to the European Union's call for a resource-efficient Europe and the skills shortage it noted in raw materials industries. The programme aims to train engineers with an entrepreneurial mindset and a view of the whole value chain, from extracting mineral and metal resources to collecting end-of-life products and recovering valuable materials from urban mines. The participating universities are the University of Liège in Belgium, TU Freiberg in Germany, Luleå University of Technology in Sweden and the University of Lorraine in France. The programme is supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
