About the programme
Sustainable Regional Development (NaRegio) is a Master's at Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development focused on regions facing major sustainability challenges such as demographic change, biodiversity loss, climate change and the balance between town and country. The programme focuses on the sustainable development of rural regions and aims to train change agents. You learn to see regions as complex, sometimes contradictory systems, analyse the conflicts in regional development, and design and manage solutions and projects, often in learning groups with regional practice partners. It combines natural, planning and social sciences, with exercises, field trips and project work every semester. Specialisations are environmental education and education for sustainable development, individual profiling, and biodiversity management in cultural landscapes. Students come from fields such as landscape ecology, forestry, agriculture, geography and biology. It lasts four semesters, starts in winter and is taught in German.
