About the programme
Molecular Cell Biology at Bielefeld University is a four-semester Master of Science worth 120 credit points, starting in the winter semester. Many questions in biology and medicine can be answered once the molecular processes inside cells are understood. The programme focuses on gene regulation, the structure and functions of proteins and metabolites, how they interact within and between cells, and how these processes are disturbed in disease. To understand development, disease, resistance and adaptation to the environment, or to develop therapies, biotechnological processes and high-yield crop varieties, molecular work on genes, proteins and metabolites has to be combined with cell biology and physiology. You deepen genetic, biochemical, molecular biological, physiological and cell biological concepts and methods, and research placements let you apply theory in real labs. It suits graduates aiming for research or industry roles in biotechnology, medical research or product development.
