About the programme

Mechanical Engineering / Materials and Production Engineering (MPE) at the University of Stuttgart is a four-semester Master's on materials and how they are produced, processed and recycled, which form the basis of all technical products. Teaching is in German. With limited raw materials, circular economy and sustainability are an essential part of the programme. Current research topics include CO2-neutral production and processing, value-preserving recycling, autonomous and sustainable production, extreme lightweight construction, and smart and new materials at the nano and micro levels. The programme trains engineers with a background in materials science and sound knowledge of production technology, with a strong interdisciplinary emphasis.
