About the programme
Physics is a German-taught, research-oriented Master of Science at the University of Oldenburg, with some modules in English. It takes 4 semesters, admission is free, and you can start in winter or summer. You build comprehensive and specialised physics knowledge and learn to work scientifically in an independent, problem-oriented and interdisciplinary way. A 60-credit consolidation phase is followed by a 60-credit research phase that includes your Master's thesis. Consolidation areas are acoustics and signal processing, biomedical physics and neurophysics, field theory and many-body theory, materials science, photonics, the physics of renewable energy, and environmental physics, with minors such as mathematics, chemistry, computing science or economics. From the third semester you are closely involved in research. Oldenburg has run Master's programmes in physics since 1998. Requirements include a degree in physics or a closely related field. Applicants from outside Germany also need German at DSH-2 or TestDaF 4.
