About the programme
Mathematics is a German-taught Master of Science at the University of Oldenburg. It takes 4 semesters, admission is free, and you can start in winter or summer. You deepen your knowledge of the main mathematical fields, how they connect and how they are applied. You choose a specialisation in pure mathematics, such as analysis or algebra and discrete mathematics, or in mathematical applications, such as applied mathematics, stochastics or biomathematics. Courses in these areas total 66 credits, and a minor subject plus career preparation add 24 credits; minors include biology, chemistry, computer science, philosophy, physics, environmental sciences and economics. Special research areas include insurance and financial mathematics, applied statistics, cryptography, coding and number theory, and mathematical modelling. Requirements include a degree in mathematics or a closely related field. Applicants from outside Germany also need German at DSH-2 or TestDaF 4.
