How to apply

Step-by-step guide to applying for Economic Behaviour and Governance at University of Kassel

Application procedure

Applicants possessing Indian academic qualifications:

Starting from November 1st 2022, applicants possessing Indian academic qualifications, who wish to pursue Bachelor's or Master's degree in Germany have to have their certificates checked by the Academic Evaluation Center (APS, https://www.aps-india.de/ (opens in a new tab)) and to submit the certificate issued by the APS with other documents applying via uni assist. The APS certificate will also become mandatory for all student visa applications.

My certificate is not sufficient for a degree course. It is possible to attend the one-year preparatory college (Studienkolleg) at the University of Kassel. It prepares prospective students with foreign certificates to study at a German university. The preparation takes place through special courses that are geared towards the subject that the prospective students want to study at the university. You need proven German language skills at a B1 level for this. This involves at least 400 hours of German lessons.. At the end of a course, candidates at the preparatory college take an examination to determine whether they are suitable to study at a university. Students are enrolled at the University of Kassel during their time at the preparatory college. Please remember: you must first make an application via uni-assist and have received "conditional admission to the preparatory college”. Since places are limited, you must first take an entrance examination. The application deadline is 30 April every year. Please continue reading here: Preparatory college at the University of Kassel.

My German language skills are inadequate.

Once you can prove that you have attended 600 or more hours of German lessons or have passed the B1 level exams, you can apply for a preparatory language course. This will prepare you for the DSH exam. You can take the exam once you have completed at least 1,000 hours of German lessons or have passed level C1 – this is possible at the University of Kassel too. Further information is available here: DSH examination at the University of Kassel.

You may now start your Visa application. The University of Kassel wants to provide you with a letter for your Visa application. Please contact the Master's office. However, this letter is no admission confirmation. Its purpose is to help you with an early visa application.

The admission board of the Master program now evaluates your eligibility with regard to your previous studies and study content.

You want to be informed about the admission or disaffirmation via email by the Master's office. Please read the admission letter carefully since it contains enrollment information . The evaluation of your application set by uni-assist and the University of Kassel takes up to 6 weeks. It is in your interest to apply as early as possible to ensure your arrival in Germany prior to the beginning of the semester.

In case further documents for pre-evaluating your application set are required, you will be contacted by uni-assist. If you do not meet the formal criteria of the University of Kassel, uni-assist will inform you directly. Your documents will not be forwarded to the University of Kassel.

Uni-assist wants to keep your documents saved for four years as a data package. Documents will only be forwarded to the university of your choice. After those four years, your documents will be deleted.
