About the programme
The MSc Mathematics at the University of Göttingen is a research-oriented programme of 4 semesters, taught in English with some electives in German, and you can start in the winter or summer semester. It builds on your Bachelor's with deeper knowledge of the main mathematical fields, how they connect, and how to work with current research literature. There are four specialisations based on the faculty's research foci: Analysis, Geometry and Topology; Algebra, Geometry and Number Theory; Numerical and Applied Mathematics; and Mathematical Stochastics. You also choose a study track, such as the general research track, a physics profile, or Mathematical Data Science with computer science, and you always study a minor subject, for example computer science or physics. Part-time study is possible on application, after a consultation with the faculty. The degree qualifies you for mathematical work in industry, business and research, and for a PhD.
