About the programme

The MSc Chemistry at the University of Göttingen is a strongly research-oriented programme of 4 semesters. It is taught in German and English and can be completed in just one of the two languages, and you can start in the winter or summer semester. The programme is made up entirely of elective modules, which ensure a minimum breadth across chemistry while letting you build your own profile, including content from neighbouring natural sciences, mathematics and computer science. Specialisations linked to the faculty's research foci, such as Functional Biomolecular Chemistry or Sustainable Synthesis Chemistry and Catalysis, can be noted on your transcript. Practical courses take place directly in the faculty's research groups on current research topics. Part-time variants of 10, 15 or 20 credits per semester are possible on application, after a consultation with the faculty. It prepares you for a doctorate or a job in industry.
