About the programme
The M.Sc. Communications Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen is a four-semester, two-year programme worth 120 credits on the Duisburg campus, taught half in German and half in English, with a start in the winter or summer semester. Building on a bachelor's in electrical, electronic and communications engineering, it teaches advanced theories and techniques of analogue and digital information transmission, with applications in wireless and optical signal transmission. You deepen your knowledge of higher mathematics and numerical methods, which underpin topics such as electromagnetic field theory. You learn to analyse theoretically demanding tasks and solve complex problems with modelling, synthesis and simulation. Graduates are prepared for research in innovative communication technologies, especially wireless transmission and high-frequency technology, for management roles in developing and operating communication systems, and for product development, research and sales.
