About the programme

The Bonn-Cologne Graduate School of Physics and Astronomy (BCGS) is a joint programme of the universities of Bonn and Cologne that takes students with a Bachelor's in physics or a related subject to a Master's degree, and the most successful students then move on to a PhD. M.Sc. programmes are offered in physics and in astrophysics. BCGS provides mentoring, research internships, travel funds and a limited number of competitive scholarships open to applicants from Germany, the EU and beyond. Research across the two physics departments spans astrophysics, biophysics, condensed matter, particle physics, quantum optics and string theory, and the departments lead three Clusters of Excellence. The course is taught in English.
