About the programme
Physics (Applied and Engineering Physics) at TUM in Garching is a two-year international Master of Science, full-time over four semesters with 120 ECTS, with a start in the winter or the summer semester and English as the required language. It gives you insight into current research trends in modern applied physics. Specialisation areas include applied solid state physics, energy sciences, experimental techniques and numerical methods, high energy physics, medical engineering, nanosciences, plasma physics and soft matter science, with topics from semiconductor physics and fuel cells to particle detectors, fusion research and nanomaterials. The first two semesters are a course phase of advanced studies, and the second year is a research phase that brings you into direct contact with current research, starting with a Master's seminar and Master's training in the third semester. Admission is through an aptitude assessment.
