About the programme

Physics at TU Dresden is a four-semester Master of Science taught mainly in English, with starts in the winter or the summer semester and part-time study over eight semesters possible. You can choose to take many exams in English or German. Compulsory modules in experimental and theoretical physics give an overview of how physics fits together, from solid-state, molecular, atomic, nuclear and particle physics to theoretical descriptions of physical phenomena. Non-physics minor subjects, chosen from twelve options such as mathematics, chemistry, biology, computer science, philosophy, engineering, materials science, business and economics, build skills for interdisciplinary work. In one of five physics specialisations you get a full picture of established knowledge, new developments and open problems. A one-year research phase at the end teaches you to design and run experiments or theoretical methods and interpret the results. It suits physics graduates who want broad, research-oriented training.
