About the programme

Mathematics International is a four-semester Master of Science at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, taught in English, with a start in the summer or winter semester. The programme is flexible: there are no compulsory subjects, only a set number of credit points from certain subject catalogues, so you can move into research according to your own abilities and interests. In your chosen specialisation you complete advanced lecture courses, a guided reading course, at least one seminar, and you write the master's thesis, worth 30 credit points. The curriculum also includes courses in applied mathematics, pure mathematics and a non-mathematical optional subject. All mathematics courses are held in English, and the examination regulations were updated with effect from the summer semester of 2026. Graduates typically work in mathematical research and teaching, or in industry roles that call for flexible use of mathematical methods on problems that are not yet standardised.
