About the programme

The Master of Science in Public Safety (Öffentliche Sicherheit) at Rheinische Hochschule Köln (RH Köln) is a part-time, continuing-education programme of four semesters and 90 credit points in a hybrid format, starting in the winter semester. It works at the meeting point of industrial and state security and modern safety engineering. The programme is organised in ten modules covering topics such as critical infrastructure, the link between state and industrial security, and safety at events, and you learn to use mathematical and organisational models and methods for approval procedures. You begin with the foundations of safety engineering, which bring students from different backgrounds to a common base. First-semester modules include technical reliability, IT security and data protection, and public vulnerability and resilience analysis. Graduates can take on leadership roles in public administration, civil protection authorities, fire services, industry and logistics.
