About the programme

Structural Chemistry and Spectroscopy is an international, research-focused Master of Science at Leipzig University, taught in English. Please note that the page currently says enrolment into the first semester is suspended. The programme is based on the German-language Chemistry master's and is aimed mainly at students who did not take a bachelor's in chemistry in Germany. It introduces advanced spectroscopic methods and centres on the structure of chemical and biochemical molecules, especially biopolymers. You complete 20 credits of compulsory modules across inorganic, organic, analytical, physical or theoretical chemistry, choose 40 credits of electives, and do three compulsory internships worth 30 credits, with the thesis usually in the second year. The programme lasts four semesters (120 credits). It suits graduates in chemistry or another natural science or engineering subject with a strong chemistry share.
