About the programme

The Physics Master of Science at Leibniz University Hannover teaches knowledge and skills in several areas of physics and trains you to produce scientific work on your own. Courses are usually held in English, and you can choose to take your oral exams and write your thesis in German or English. In the specialisation stage, worth around 40 credit points, you build advanced knowledge in the faculty's basic research areas: solid state physics, quantum optics and gravitation, with radioecology and radiation protection as a further option, and you can also do industrial training. The research stage is mainly your Master's thesis on a current research topic. An optional subject and key skills courses round it off. The programme lasts four semesters and starts in winter or summer; part-time study is possible in the first year.
