About the programme
Optical Technologies is a Master of Science at Leibniz University Hannover that trains specialists and future leaders for the optical industry. The technical use of light now runs through everyday life, from checkout scanners to lasers in car making, communication and medicine, and drives innovation in mechanical and automotive engineering, microelectronics, lighting and medical devices. The programme is run jointly by the physics and mechanical engineering faculties, bridging basic research and technical application, and the Laser Zentrum Hannover and the Hannover Centre for Optical Technologies link students with industry. Topics include laser technology, optical metrology, optics in production and power engineering, and technical optics for automotive uses. The programme lasts four semesters and starts in winter or summer. You can study in German or in English.
