About the programme
The MBA at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, run by its Gutenberg School of Business (GSB Mainz), is an English-only, part-time General Management degree for people with at least three years of work experience. It lasts two years and is worth 90 ECTS. After an introduction week, classes take place at weekends, so you can study alongside a full-time job. The programme has eight modules, a practical project, a week of study abroad at a partner school (the Warsaw School of Economics or the Norwegian School of Economics in Bergen), and a Master's thesis with a final oral exam. Teaching mixes lectures with case studies, business games and role plays, plus soft skills workshops on communication and presentation. Lecturers combine academic and professional backgrounds. The next cohort starts in the summer semester of 2027.

*Applicants without an undergraduate degree or who have a qualification issued by a German careers academy (BA) or business college (VWA) can instead take an aptitude test to demonstrate they possess the requisite intellectual and technical skills and corresponding professional expertise.

The degree is specifically designed for professionally active participants who wish to study part-time. For the most part, attendance of classroom lessons in Mainz is required only at the weekends in order to minimize potential disruption of participants’ professional commitments.
