Notes on the pre-MBA semester

The MBA programme General Management builds on basic business knowledge. If you have not obtained your first degree in a degree in economics, a pre-MBA semester is upstream to your actual MBA degree at HFH.

In this you familiarize yourself with the economic basics in order to be able to intensively enter the matter of your MBA degree programme. In the pre-MBA semester you will treat the following three modules:

  • Fundamentals of Business Administration and Marketing
  • Annual financial statements
  • Cost and service accounting

In order to enrol at HFH for the MBA programme General Management, all three modules must be successfully completed with a exam.

  • In the module Fundamentals of Business Administration and Marketing, you will acquire basic business knowledge. They learn and understand the use of legal forms as well as the tasks of personnel work.

-

  • In addition, investment calculation and the financing of companies are on the curriculum. This basic part is supplemented by detailed knowledge on the subject of marketing. You will treat the tasks, instruments and goals of marketing as well as marketing research. On the one hand, the module creates the prerequisites for a fundamental understanding of business contexts and their classification. On the other hand, it is dedicatedly preparing for the strong customer and market orientation of your future MBA programme General Management with a focus on marketing.
  • The module yearly financial statements provide an overview of external accounting. A number of modules from the subsequent MBA degree at HFH are based on this detailed knowledge.

-

  • You can apply your know-how from the pre-MBA to annual financial statements and accounting policy for the upcoming case studies and the Corporate Finance and Controlling module.
  • The Cost and Performance Accounting module maps internal accounting with its contents, methods and goals. This knowledge, which is more oriented towards detailed measures and effects, is also placed in complex contexts in the MBA program.

-

  • It serves, for example, in the Business Planning and Business Simulation modules, decision-making and justification.
