About the programme
Mathematics at Bielefeld University is a four-semester Master of Science worth 120 credit points, offered as an English-language course, with starts in the winter or the summer semester. You deepen your skills in recognising and analysing structures, modelling facts and solving problems, including problems where visualisation fails. You are introduced to current research questions and learn to plan, carry out and complete a research project on your own, which also builds project management skills. The faculty's research profile gives you a wide range of specialisation options and a lot of freedom of choice, so you can follow your interests and join research early. Teamwork matters, and you get individual support from tutors: students in higher semesters, doctoral students and postdocs. It suits graduates who want to work as data scientists or analysts, as actuaries at insurers or banks, as IT consultants for AI applications, or in research.
