About the programme

Mechatronics (Mechatronik) at West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau is a Master of Engineering taught in German, starting in the winter semester. It takes three semesters (90 ECTS) full time, or six semesters part time. You build mechanical, electrical, fluid power and automation skills to analyse, design and act on mechatronic challenges, especially in mechanical and plant engineering. The programme covers interdisciplinary areas between mechanics and electronics, such as analysing dynamic properties, machine monitoring and building suitable software tools, and prepares you to set strategic goals and take responsibility for complete mechatronic or automated solutions and projects. Digitalisation and Industry 4.0 are part of the reason for this mix of mechanics, information technology and electrical engineering. It suits engineering graduates aiming for research and development of mechatronic applications, leadership roles in industry, or a doctorate.
