Successful completion of the Bachelor's program in Computer Science at the University of Siegen with a major corresponding to the desired specialization or equivalent first professional qualification. The responsible examination board decides on the content-related suitability of the degree.

General Requirements

A Bachelor in Computer Science (at least 6 semesters) comprising

  • Mathematical Foundations, 20 CP. Sample topics: Discrete mathematics, linear algebra, analysis, calculus
  • Foundations in Computer Science and Programming, 30 CP. Sample topics: Introduction to computer science, introduction to programming, algorithms & data structures, object-oriented programming, programming lab
  • Theoretic Computer Science, 10 LP. Sample topics: Automata and formal languages, theory of computation, logic, design and analysis of algorithms
  • Practical Computer Science, 20 CP. Sample topics: Operating systems, databases, software engineering, compiler construction
  • Computer Engineering, 15 CP. Sample topics: Computer networks, computer architecture, digital electronics, digital logic design
  • Project Work or Bachelor Thesis 10 CP
  • Study Focus related topics, 18 CP (see next page Study Requirements (opens in a new tab))

The given number of CP refer to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), where 1 semester and 1 study year has 30 and 60 CP, respectively.

(a) Select English (bottom right of the initial webpage)

(b) Register to the system: Self-registration: Please fill in all required fields. After the registration is complete you will receive an e-mail describing the next steps. This mail contains your advanced user data, which you will use for login later.

2. Fill in the initial form online

3. You will receive an email with your user name and password

(a) Follow the instructions, fill all forms and upload all required documents in digital form

4. Your documents will be evaluated for legal and professional eligibility (see remark below)

5. Eligible candidates will be invited to send a hard copy of their documents

6. Eligible candidates will be invited for a telephone interview (see remark below)

Important remark: The international master program in computer science is a consecutive study program. It builds upon the bachelor program in Siegen that conveys the necessary skills and expertise for the master program. Thus, after your application, we will evaluate your transcripts of records in order to ensure that you have the necessary skills and expertise for the master program in one of the two study focus areas (i.e., embedded systems or visual computing). Furthermore, a telephone interview with each shortlisted applicant will clarify any uncertainties about the required skills and expertise for the master program.
