About the programme
Civil Engineering (Bauingenieurwesen) is a German-taught Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) at htw saar, the University of Applied Sciences Saarland. It lasts 3 semesters full-time, starts in the summer semester, and part-time study is possible. It builds on htw saar's own Bachelor's but is open to graduates of other universities across Germany and beyond. You can specialise in structural engineering or in infrastructure, or skip a specialisation and shape your own path, for example towards construction operations and management. Topics range from flood forecasting and sustainable resource management to planning and building roads, bridges, tunnels, wastewater plants and canals, always weighing technical, ecological, economic and legal questions together. Teaching is led by the faculty's professors, with external experts and real projects. It suits civil engineers ready to tackle climate change, demographic change and digitalisation in construction.
