About the programme

International Automotive Engineering is an English-taught Master of Engineering at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) that makes you an expert in developing mechatronic systems in vehicles, such as driver assistance, vehicle safety and drive technology. In the first three semesters you build expertise in electrified drives, vehicle sensors and actuators, function development, and developing and validating driver assistance and vehicle safety systems, with modules such as automotive ECUs and software architectures, testing and simulation methods, and vehicle dynamics. Projects and seminars with students from around the world build intercultural skills, and a German language course is part of the programme. You write your master's thesis in the fourth semester. The programme runs full time in Ingolstadt for four semesters (120 ECTS) and starts in summer or winter. Graduates work as development engineers for electronic and mechatronic vehicle systems that improve comfort and safety.

Selection for admission: aptitude test

Due to the large number of applications, we are forced to use a rigorous selection process to assess each applicant's suitability for the program. The selection committee conducts the aptitude test in two stages. In the first stage, professional qualifications are assessed through a curricular analysis of the submitted documents (Bachelor's certificate). This includes modules from the fundamental areas (automotive engineering, electrical and communications engineering, microcontroller and signal processing, programming, and software engineering), in which the skills required for the Master's program in International Automotive Engineering must be acquired.

In the second stage, motivation, professional qualifications, and communication skills are assessed in an interview. Applicants with sufficient points in Stage 1 will be invited to the Stage 2 aptitude interview. The aptitude interviews take place in June and July (applications for the winter semester) and in January and February (applications for the summer semester).
