About the programme
Water Security and Global Change at TU Dresden is an international, research-oriented Master of Science taught in English over four semesters, starting in the winter semester. It is a joint degree with RWTH Aachen and IIT Madras, with a curriculum developed and run by the partners, and the degree certificate is awarded jointly. Students start at IIT Madras for about eight months, then spend five months at TU Dresden and five at RWTH Aachen, and finish with a five-month Master's thesis at one of these locations. Courses are usually taught in hybrid form. The focus is on planning, building and running water management and hydraulic infrastructure, especially for adapting to climate-related extreme events inland and on coasts, plus hydrological principles, data analysis and modelling of material flows in water systems. It suits graduates heading for water resources management, water policy or research.
