About the programme
Engineering Geohazards is an interdisciplinary, English-taught M.Sc. at RWTH Aachen University over 4 semesters with 120 credits, open without a numerus clausus and starting in winter or summer. It connects natural sciences, engineering and economics to understand natural hazards such as storms, heavy rainfall, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and mass movements, and to assess their consequences for society. You also learn to develop and design engineering protection measures and to prepare and rehabilitate living spaces sustainably, balancing disaster prevention, economics and ecology. The first year builds the geoscientific and engineering fundamentals, and the second year deepens them. Practical experience and the option of an applied Master's thesis with partner companies are part of the curriculum.
