About the programme

The international Master of Science in Environmental Pollution Management (Ecotoxicology) at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau is a full-time, four-semester programme taught in English on the Landau campus, starting in the winter semester. It looks at the potential impact of the growing number of chemicals released into the environment, investigating their effects on biological systems in order to develop risk management methods and predict ecological consequences. The programme integrates environmental chemistry, environmental toxicology, ecology and pollution management, and also includes the social sciences and economics. Its interdisciplinary and applied approach prepares graduates to analyse complex environmental problems and develop practical solutions, with an international outlook that includes the situation in developing countries. It is organised by the Institute for Environmental Sciences Landau, and graduates receive full credit for the nine required topics of Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry's Certification of Environmental Risk Assessors programme.

Prerequisites

A Bachelor degree in Environmental Science, Natural Science or Earth Science is required.

_To be eligible, students should have completed a BSc (or comparable) program providing them at least with basic knowledge in biology/ecology, (environmental) chemistry, physics, and mathematics/statistics._

Basic academic knowledge may be acquired in the fields of Ecology, Environmental Chemistry, Geographic Informations Systems and Mathematics/Statistics. If necessary, previous knowledge may be complemented in preparatory courses.

The Program is conducted in English. Therefore, good active and passive English language skills are essential. However, no formal proof of English proficiency (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL) is required

_On a four-grade scale the minimum grade is 3 to be accepted for our program. However, we also consider work experience etc. for our decisions._
