About the programme
Sport and Exercise Psychology is an English-taught Master of Science at Leipzig University. It uses basic research on motivation, volition, emotion and cognition to develop theories and methods and practical recommendations. Sport psychology covers performance in competitive and school sport, goal setting, emotion regulation, mental training and counselling; exercise psychology covers health promotion, injury prevention, physical activity for well-being and behaviour change. The first semester reviews the fundamentals and research methods, the second explores practical applications, the third offers a research internship, an applied sports psychology internship, a stay abroad or, with a separate application and limited places, a double degree semester at the University of Thessaly, and the fourth is for your thesis. It lasts four semesters (120 credits) and starts only in the winter semester. It suits graduates in sport science or psychology.
