About the programme
The Master's in Environmental Sciences at Justus Liebig University Giessen runs for 4 semesters with 120 credit points and looks at the consequences of human land use and climate change. Teaching is in German. You gain in-depth knowledge of soil, water, biodiversity, ecological functions, nutrients and pollutants and the use of natural resources, and you develop science-based concepts for sustainable food production and resource use in a changing world. The aim is to measure and assess human impact on the environment and, where needed, develop alternatives. You study soil sciences, landscape ecology, waste management, microbiology, material flow management, hydrology, resource management, environmental analysis and geoinformatics. Teaching is practice-oriented and closely linked to research, and you can add practice-oriented modules and a work placement. A start in the winter semester is recommended.
