About the programme
Production Horticulture (Produktionsgartenbau) at HTW Dresden is a three-semester Master of Science worth 90 ECTS, taught in German. It can start in the winter or the summer semester, and part-time study over five or six semesters is possible on request. The programme links traditional knowledge, modern technology and business management in growing vegetables, fruit and ornamental plants, and looks at how to respond to climate change and secure a supply of healthy food. You gain subject knowledge in horticulture plus interdisciplinary knowledge of ecology and economics, and learn to analyse and plan horticultural production. Two semesters of compulsory and elective modules let you specialise, followed by a 20-week Master's thesis, for example with a company of your choice. It suits graduates aiming to lead horticultural businesses, work in quality, resource and environmental management in horticulture, or take senior roles in associations and the public sector.
