About the programme

Chemical Sciences at the University of Stuttgart is a research-oriented Master's designed for international graduates with a Bachelor's in chemistry or a related field. Teaching is in English. It starts every winter semester (October) and runs for four semesters with 120 ECTS. The programme develops your conceptual and analytical skills and introduces you to planning and carrying out research projects. The first two semesters are a homogenisation phase with lectures, lab practicals and seminars. In the second and third semesters you specialise in the department's research profiles: Sustainable Synthesis and Catalysis, Smart Materials and Functional Molecules, Biological Chemistry and Biotechnology, and Theory and Simulation in Chemistry and Materials Sciences, and you complete two freely chosen research internships, which suit a stay abroad. You write your Master's thesis in the fourth semester. Requirements include a Bachelor's of at least six semesters in chemistry or a closely related field.
