About the programme
Marine Environmental Sciences is a German-taught Master of Science at the University of Oldenburg, with some modules in English. It takes 4 semesters, admission is free, and you start in winter (summer only in justified cases). This interdisciplinary, research-oriented programme gives natural scientists in-depth training in the knowledge and methods of modern marine environmental science. Mandatory modules are an introduction to the field, a 12-credit environmental research project, and the Master's thesis with colloquium. You choose 12 electives across mathematical modelling, ocean, climate and environmental physics, geochemistry and chemical analysis, biology and ecology, and marine sensor systems and operational oceanography. You are part of research from the start at the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment. Requirements include a degree in environmental sciences, marine engineering or a suitable related field. Applicants from outside Germany also need German at DSH-2 or TestDaF 4.
