About the programme

Artificial Intelligence at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is a Master's programme worth 120 ECTS, usually taken over four semesters full time or eight part time, with starts in the summer or the winter semester. It gives you a solid, broad understanding of AI and its links to other disciplines, grounded in the field's academic methods. Unlike data science programmes, it focuses on the constructive modelling and implementation of algorithms, data structures, neural networks and their applications. You take 50 ECTS of electives across three pillars: symbolic AI, subsymbolic AI, and AI systems and applications, with at least 10 ECTS in each. Two 10-ECTS projects in AI work groups, a 5-ECTS seminar and a 15-ECTS minor in an AI-related subject follow, and the last semester is mainly for your thesis. Research groups in the Department of Computer Science offer plenty of hands-on project work. It suits computer science graduates.
