About the programme
The M.Sc. Automation and Safety at the University of Duisburg-Essen is a four-semester, two-year programme worth 120 credits on the Duisburg campus, taught half in German and half in English, with a start in the winter or summer semester. Process monitoring, fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant systems matter more and more in research and industry because of growing demands for reliability and availability, especially in the context of Industry 4.0. Building on a bachelor's in electrical, electronic and communications engineering, you deepen your knowledge of automation and control methods and their implementation in computer-aided systems, with a further focus on mathematical modelling and simulation of automated processes. Interdisciplinary courses in natural sciences, electrical and mechanical engineering and computer science prepare you for complex automation tasks. Graduates work in design, planning and project management in automation, process, energy, building and traffic control technology, and automotive and aviation.
