About the programme

Industrial Informatics at Hochschule Emden/Leer is a three-semester Master of Engineering worth 90 ECTS, taught in English on the Emden campus, with starts in the summer or the winter semester. Exams are in English, or in German on request. You gain advanced knowledge in applying electrical engineering and computer science in industry: from automation systems to robotics and mechatronics, from embedded systems to modelling and visualisation, and from network technologies to security concepts. Besides lectures and internships, specialisation projects and seminars, often drawn from research projects run with companies, prepare you for independent and scientific work. The programme also builds leadership skills for interdisciplinary teams and projects. It suits graduates in electrical engineering, computer science, energy systems or mechanical engineering who want to work in industrial information technology, automation, robotics or mechatronics.

Completed bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering in Cooperative Education, Computer Science, Computer Science in Cooperative Education, Sustainable Energy Systems, Mechanical Engineering and Design, Mechanical Engineering and Design in Cooperative Education at Hochschule Emden/Leer or in a professionally suitable bachelor's program. The entry requirement for the consecutive master's program Industrial Informatics is a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a bachelor's degree (7 semesters / 210 ECTS). Other equivalent bachelor's degrees may be recognized as entry requirements after individual assessment.

For students who have completed a 6-semester bachelor's program, a supplementary program is offered to acquire missing knowledge, totaling 30 ECTS. Depending on your prior knowledge and the focus of your previous bachelor's degree, this program includes modules from the study programs at Hochschule Emden/Leer. For students from other universities, the content is determined in consultation with the selection committee for the master's program
