About the programme
Microelectronics and Chip Design at TUM in Munich is a full-time, four-semester Master of Science with 120 ECTS, taught in English and starting in the winter semester (October). It is offered with the Technical University of Denmark, Tampere University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Institut Mines-Télécom. Microchips matter for almost all future technologies, and you learn to develop and implement innovative chip designs. The programme is research-based and strongly practice-oriented: you study the mathematical methods, physical principles and electronic fundamentals of circuit design, and learn to model and partition complex systems, for example for AI, information security, energy-saving systems, robotics or medical technology, into a form suited to hardware development. You specialise in analog/mixed-signal or digital design and apply your skills in a practical project in interdisciplinary, international teams. Three semesters of coursework are followed by the Master's thesis.
