About the programme

IT Security / Networks and Systems (M.Sc.) at Ruhr University Bochum builds deep knowledge of IT security on three pillars: computer science, information technology and cryptography. You can specialise in network and data security, embedded security, cryptography, system security, security engineering, human-centred security or mobile security. The programme lasts four semesters, starts in winter or summer, and classes are in German and English. It suits graduates in computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics or related subjects who have a solid grounding in computing and maths and enjoy logical reasoning. Graduates can work as security engineers, penetration testers, incident response specialists, IT forensic experts, security consultants or system developers, or in research and development.

Prerequisites

The prerequisite for admission to the language courses is eligibility for direct admission to university. Prospective students who have already attended a university receive preferential admission.

Our German courses are intensive courses. Therefore, we expect all students in our courses to devote their full attention to the course work and to have sufficient time for preparation and follow-up work.
