About the programme
Environmental Protection (Umweltschutz) is a German-taught Master's run jointly by four universities in the Stuttgart region, with teaching in Reutlingen, Nürtingen, Esslingen and Stuttgart. It takes 4 semesters, starts in the summer or winter semester, and prepares you for work in municipal, technical or biological-ecological environmental protection. Topics range across nature and climate protection, environmental process engineering, the energy transition, and the circular economy and sustainability. You choose a focus such as biological-ecological protection, municipal environmental protection, QSHE management, industrial environmental technology or international environmental protection, and work in small project teams in labs. Field trips include a multi-day environmental excursion every year. Science courses are offered for students from other fields, and a double degree with ESAIP in Angers, France is possible. It suits graduates in science, engineering, economics or social sciences. Enrolment is through the Nürtingen-Geislingen University (HFWU).
