About the programme

The Data Science Master of Science at Kiel University of Applied Sciences trains experts who can find connections in large amounts of data and draw useful conclusions, with data protection and data ethics in mind. It is not just theory: in a practical project and in your thesis you work on real challenges from companies in Northern Germany. The first semester covers data visualisation, programming tools, mathematics and multivariate statistics, machine learning, data management and cloud computing; the second adds social media analytics, big data technologies, deep learning and an application project. Students come from computer science, engineering, natural sciences, psychology and economics. All compulsory modules run Monday to Wednesday, so you can combine study with a job. The programme is taught in English, lasts three semesters and starts in winter or summer.
