About the programme

The Master of Science in Research in Media Engineering at Ilmenau University of Technology is a four-semester, research-oriented programme worth 120 credit points, which can be completed in German and English, with a start on 1 April or 1 October. It deals with media technology and media informatics. In the first three semesters you gain in-depth knowledge in core media technology modules and in related engineering fields, with a focus on practical teaching. Laboratories at the institute and at the Ilmenau Interactive Immersive Technologies Center (I3TC) are available for practical research. A key part of the course is the media or research project in the third semester, where you apply your knowledge to a current research topic. The fourth semester is devoted to the master's thesis. Graduates can work in research and development, media technology consulting or scientific research.

Basic knowledge of media technology (audio, video) is very helpful for a successful start to your studies.
